The third annual Taste of Chilton County was held at Senior Connection Oct. 14.
Vendors from around the county brought their wares, so attendees could have the opportunity to try their food.
Each year, those who attend are asked to vote for their favorite vendor in three separate categories: best sweet, best savory and best overall.
Caterer Country Lane Too was voted as best overall for the second-straight year.
They edged out Peach Tree Bistro of St. Vincent’s Chilton and B’s Market, who tied for second place.
“The hospital showed well even though they had been (accidentally) left off the ballot,” said Rotary Club of Chilton County President Gordon Swenson. “All of their support was write-in.”
Pies by Mike was selected as the best sweet category winner, an honor owner Mike Graham also took home last year.
Peach Park and Smokey Hollow tied for second place in the category.
The only category winner that changed over last year was best savory. That honor goes to Chubbfathers, which has yet to open its Clanton location but is aiming for mid-November.
Country Lane Too came in second in the category, while B’s Market took third.
The Rotary Club partners with Senior Connection to put on the event.
The 2019 Taste of Chilton County had many different items on offer, from shrimp and grits to homemade sloppy joes to alligator bites, pies, turnovers and chocolate-covered pecans.
“Even though we had a first, second and third place, all of the vendors had fantastic food,” Swenson said. “Mr. Taco’s had one of the best booths with the display they had. The children they had dressed up as a taco and in a sombrero was phenomenal. Everyone commented on how neat that was. Old Town Eatery was phenomenal. Their shrimp and grits were really popular.”
