Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center has been selected as the August beneficiary of Winn-Dixie’s Community Bag Program.

The two organizations have teamed up with the goal of helping the local community.

Winn-Dixie will donate $1 to Butterfly Bridge for each reusable bag sold at the Clanton location during the month of August.

However, there will be “giving tags” attached to the bags, which will allow customers the option to donate further to Butterfly Bridge if they choose.

For those looking to take part in the initiative, the bags will be available to purchase at the store most likely near the front and around the checkout lines.

The reusable bags cost $2.50 apiece and can serve as an alternative for plastic grocery bags.

“We were very honored to find out that Butterfly Bridge had been selected to be the recipient of the Winn-Dixie Community Bag Program funds during August,” Butterfly Bridge executive director Jana Zuelzke said. “We hope you will participate as you grocery shop, and help us give children their childhoods back.”

Winn-Dixie began the bag program in February 2019. To learn more about the initiative, visit seg.bags4mycause.com.

Although $1 of the sales may not seem like a lot, such a donation holds a great deal of importance in the eyes of Zuelzke.

“Every dollar matters and adds up to help us further our mission to serve child victims of abuse in Chilton County,” Zuelzke said. “It’s a myth that only the big gifts count.”

The goal behind Butterfly Bridge is to offer a safe and child-friendly environment for children victimized by abuse or neglect as they provide restoration in their lives.

According to a press release, the nonprofit organization has provided 467 services to children in Chilton County and their families over the last three months.
