William E. “Shorty” Compton, 75, passed away at his home in Montevallo, Alabama, on March 2, 2019.

He was born in Calera, Alabama, on January 31, 1944.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jackson Compton; daughters, Denise Compton Miller (Thomas) of Noblesville, Indiana, and Sara Compton of Montevallo, Alabama; sons, Doug Compton (Rhonda) of Tipton, Indiana, Shawn Compton (Meagan) of Montevallo, Alabama; Joe Compton (Cassie) of Calera, Alabama, and Patrick Compton of Calera, Alabama; brothers, Ralph Compton, and Troy Compton (Retha), both of Morristown, Tennessee,; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Charlie Compton; mother, Rosetta Horton Seal; father, Louie Edward Compton; and sister-in-law, Millie Compton.

He worked as a mechanic, and enjoyed fishing, camping and family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church in Montevallo, Alabama. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Bro. Bill Trawick will officiate.
