The state tournament has become a familiar place in recent years for the Chilton Christian Patriots basketball program.
The school’s boys and girls teams advanced to the quarterfinals of the Alabama Christian Athletic Association Basketball Tournament in Oxford.
CCA’s boys will face off against Tabernacle Christian on Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Tabernacle Christian had a bye in the substate round as one of the tournament’s top four seeds.
The girls squad has already secured its spot in the final four and will play Cornerstone Christian Academy of Rainsville on Feb. 15 at 10:30 a.m.
If both teams advance, the girls will play the winner of Tabernacle Christian and Brooklane in the championship, while the boys would play the winner of First Assembly Christian School and Victory Christian Academy of Columbus, Mississippi in the semifinals.
A victory would clinch a second consecutive trip to the final four for the boys after making a deep run in last year’s tournament.
The girls championship is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 16, while the boys title game will follow later that day at 3 p.m.
According to the CCA website, there will be no fifth grade, sixth grade or high school classes on Feb. 15.
A “fan vehicle” will take any students wishing to attend the girls semifinal on Feb. 15.
Students riding on the “fan vehicle” will be charged $2 to help pay for gas.
CCA asked for prayers for all those making the trip and participating in the state tournament.
