The Christmas parades for Jemison and Thorsby have been canceled due to the possibility of inclement weather.

Neither parade will be rescheduled.

Thorsby Police Chief Rodney Barnett said the parade would not be re-scheduled again because of the proximity to Christmas “This was the reschedule date, so we are not going to reschedule again,” Rex Bittle of the Jemison Lions Club said. “It would be too logistically difficult.”

He said the Jemison Lions Club does plan to be a part of the Clanton Christmas Parade, hosted by the Rotary Club and the City of Clanton on Dec. 7. The chance of rain for the night of Dec. 7 is 80 percent.

The Clanton Christmas Parade will be held as scheduled and begins at 6 p.m.

Roger Yeargan of the Rotary Club of Chilton County said the Jemison and Thorsby bands were welcome to participate in the Clanton parade and asked that they email rotaryclubofchiltoncounty@gmail.com if interested.

The parades had been rescheduled to Dec. 8 because of rain, but the forecast now gives a 100 percent change of rain for that date.
