The Thorsby Christmas parade is scheduled for Dec. 1 beginning at 9 a.m., with the lineup to take place between 8 and 8:30 a.m.
Other news from the Thorsby Council’s meeting on Nov. 5 included the Council approving a $250 donation to the recently formed Student Government Association at Thorsby High School.
The Council received a letter from the THS guidance counselor asking for a donation to help get the student-led organization off the ground.
The donation will go toward the club’s first initiative, a Veterans Day program.
Brian Ashworth was approved to join the Thorsby Police Department as a reserve officer.
He had spent time with the department in the past.
“He didn’t leave under bad terms,” TPD chief Rodney Barnett said.
Public works director Terry Jackson updated the Council that the hydrogen sulfate gases have taken a toll on the controls of the sewer lift pump at the transfer station.
According to Jackson, the pump is still in good shape, but the controls are eaten up.
He informed the Council of the situation, so that they can prepare for a future bill of about $8,500 for replacement or repairs.
The minutes from the Oct. 15 Council meeting were approved, and it was approved to pay the bills and transfer the funds.
