Billy Singleton with the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of Congressman Gary Palmer, presented the Chilton County Commission with an American flag that had flown above the U.S. Capital building in Washington D.C.

The flag was in recognition of Chilton County’s 150th anniversary.

According to Singleton, Sen. Cam Ward has plans to do a similar gesture with a flag that was flown over the state capital in Montgomery.

The Commission also approved the request for resignation by Fletcher Green from his position as county attorney.

Jason Calhoun thanked Sherriff John Shearon and his office for the services that they offered during the Chilton County Fair.

“It was greatly appreciated,” Calhoun said.

Commissioner Joseph Parnell apologized for not clearly stating that he abstained from a vote to make Knox Pest Control the provider of pest control services for the courthouse during the Sept. 24 meeting.

It was determined that Knox Pest Control was approved with a 4-3 vote, due to the fact that Chairman Allen Caton had perceived Parnell to have voted yes initially.
