Extra measures are being taken to make sure that things operate smoothly during Thursday’s football opener between rivals Thorsby and Jemison.

The two teams have not played each other for roughly two decades and a large crowd is anticipated with supporters from both teams.

Thorsby will host the contest, and the school has created a parking plan to help handle the game day traffic.

Closed intersections will include Dakota Road and Concordia Street, Fountain Street and Concordia Street and Washington Street and Concordia Street.

Fans are advised to use Chilton Street or Jones Street to get to the field.

The lots around the field will be the initial areas to park. However, overflow parking will also be available beyond the baseball outfield, at the gym and in front of the school.

A couple of golf carts will be used to shuttle people to the field from the outer lots.

According to Thorsby Principal Corey Clements, it is unclear how many people will attend the game, but measures have been put in place to be ready for anything.

An increased number of volunteers will also be staffed to help park cars and keep things in order.

Tickets will be available for pre-sale on Thursday at Thorsby School, Jemison High School and Jemison Middle School. Tickets are $7 at the stadium, but $6 through the pre-sale program.

The pre-sale program is not just for students, but any fan that wants to attend the game.

Fans with a pre-sold ticket are asked to enter the stadium through the pass gate and not the general admission entrance.

A second general admission gate will be available for THS fans on the home side beside the press box.
