Union Grove Baptist Church has a scrumptious theme for this summer’s VBS, scheduled for Aug. 10-12: “Camp Out: Getting S’more of Jesus.”

VBS will be 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 10 and 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 11.

Registration is free and open to children 4 years old to fifth grade.

Connie Wren of Union Grove Baptist Church said children will not be actually camping due to logistics complexities, although the possibility had been considered in earlier planning.

Activities — especially food — will feature elements of the campout theme.

Supper will be provided on Aug. 10, and lunch will be provided Aug. 11.

Parents and grandparents are invited to a celebration service at 5 p.m. on Aug. 12. A meal will follow the service.

Wren said the church aims to present the Gospel and provide opportunities for children to learn about Jesus Christ through VBS.

“We are really praying that we will be able to reach a lot of children in our community who maybe aren’t in a church,” she said.
