Chilton County residents will be revving up their motorcycle engines for the first-ever Ride For His Kids on July 14, benefitting Camp 1:27 of Raleigh’s Place foster care ministry.
Any type of motorcycle is welcome,” co-organizer Andrew George said. “If somebody just has a motorcycle and would like to come join us, they’re welcome to come join.”
Registration opens at 8 a.m. and is $20 per bike and $5 for any additional rider or guest.
Kickstands are up at 9 a.m.
Clanton Lighthouse Cruisers will lead the way beginning at Lickin Good Donuts (1710 Seventh St. N.) in Clanton and winding “roughly between” 70 to 100 miles through Chilton County, according to George.
The ride will end at G.R.A.C.E.’s Marina on Lake Mitchell, where there will be food and water activities.
“We’re going to have some hotdogs and hamburgers and stuff for people to hang out and just enjoy the lake,” George said.
Participants are encouraged to bring a swimsuit.
“The idea is just to raise money for Raleigh’s Place in an unconventional way that maybe hasn’t been done before for this type of organization,” George said.
The money will be allocated toward the Camp 1:27 general fund to aid construction of structures, such as bathhouses, needed to host camp.
“The goal is to raise as much as we can and learn from it,” George said. “And if we do good this year, do it again next year and try to raise more.”
G.R.A.C.E.’s Marina is located at 15396 County Rd. 59 in Verbena.
