A manhunt is underway for suspect Randy Laverne Edwards, who is allegedly linked to a theft that occurred earlier the same day on June 29.

The Clanton Police Department, Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are on scene at the Interstate 65 North rest area with assistance from an ALEA helicopter and a K-9 united provided by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Edwards, described by police as a 37-year-old black male, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, remains at large.

Allegedly, the theft suspect fled pursuit by a CPD officer in Clanton, speeding to the interstate in a white vehicle and ultimately veering off into the rest area before exiting his car and fleeing on foot into the woods.
