It has been two years since Relay for Life of Chilton County hosted a Men In Pink fundraising campaign, but now it is back.

Nominations are officially open for the 2019 Men In Pink, limited this year to a “Tantalizing Ten.”

“We want them to know how special they are and what an honor it is — you can’t have just anybody, just our Tantalizing Ten,” Jeannie Smith of the American Cancer Society said.

Smith said RFL has no qualifications for the MIP candidates, but is looking for “someone that’s eager, willing [and] who wants to make a difference and help save lives.”

MIP responsibilities include promoting cancer research and fundraising by any variety of creative or common means.

Although MIP may begin fundraising at any time to pursue a goal of $2,500 per participant, they will be officially introduced to the community at the Relay For Life 2019 kickoff event on Sept. 24.

All MIP proceeds will be incorporated into the 2019 Relay For Life fundraising goal to support the American Cancer Society.

For each day of October, MIP wear pink — as elaborately or simply as they prefer, according to Smith.

The deadline to fundraise is Oct. 31.

A Pink Tie Affair is scheduled to conclude the MIP campaign on Nov. 8 at the Jemison Municipal Complex.

“I really want to thank Chilton County for all of their support for what they do for the American Cancer Society and support from Relay For Life to Men In Pink here in Chilton County,” Smith said. “We have a county that truly cares about curing cancer, and we so appreciate it.”
