Seven years have already barreled by since Jemison’s Hidden Meadow Vineyard first opened its award-winning trove to the world.
To share its excitement with the community, the vineyard is hosting an open house on June 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Come out, and enjoy the day! We have a new covered pavilion that the entertainment will take place in,” owner Bill Bailey said. “Everything is really pretty this time of year, too.”
Free wine tasting, food and live music between noon and 4 p.m. are the featured festivities for the day.
A member of the Alabama Wine Trail, Hidden Meadow Vineyard produces and distributes 12 to14 varieties of wine, including wines made from grapes, peaches, plums, blueberries, blackberries and strawberries from Chilton County and across the South.
Seven years has produced a bountiful business for the winery, supplying a well-rounded taste of Chilton County to an unexpected diversity of customers.
“It feels like it’s been a lot of work,” Bailey laughed. “It’s been a lot of fun, too. We have met a lot of good people, and to a lot of people’s surprise, we actually get customers from everywhere.”
According to Bailey, Hidden Meadow Vineyard has an international reach.
“In our guest book, we have people from Europe, China, Russia. They have relatives here [that] they come to visit, and they come to the winery. So, we actually attract people from all over.”
Hidden Meadow Vineyard is located at 664 County Road 606 in Jemison. Winery hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
