Thorsby High School put an exclamation point on the 2018 school year with the graduation of 50 students during a ceremony on May 24.

Senior class president Irelan Childress, valedictorian Rhobyn Dickerson and salutatorian Kody Cleckler each addressed the crowded auditorium filled with family and friends.

“Lets take everything that we’ve learned and change the world,” Childress said.

Childress thanked her classmates for the friendships, laughs and support over the past four years.

“Thorsby has given me an opportunity to be something bigger,” Childress said. “In a few months the real world hits, but we’ll never forget what this school did for us.”

Principal Corey Clements awarded the certificates and shook the hand of each graduate as they met him in the center of the stage.

After each senior had walked across the stage, they returned to their seats and recited the alma mater as the entire audience stood with them and shared in the moment.

“Five more minutes” by Scotty McCreery was chosen as the class song and played over the speakers as the graduates exited the auditorium.

It was a fitting song that seemed to sum up the emotions of graduation night.
