It is that time of year again: Spring cleaning is sweeping across the county, and Jemison is taking the broom with an official Spring Cleanup week set for April 23-27.

“We are very proud of our public reputation as a ‘clean city,’ and Jemison’s Annual Spring Clean-up is an opportunity to encourage that with all of our citizens,” City Councilman Rex Bittle said.

Jemison’s cleanup is always the last full week in April, according to Bittle.

“We ask everyone to have their items gathered on their property near the street by the first of the week (April 23), so it will be available when the truck comes by,” Bittle said.

Items must not include batteries, refrigerators, tires, paint and chemicals.

“The city is glad to offer this free service to our community!” Bittle said.

The city does not need to be contacted for pickup by participating residents.
