A “Dance 4 A Cure: Luck O’ the Irish” youth dance is scheduled for March 24, from 6-9 p.m. at Fierce Sports and Recreation LLC in Clanton.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. The opportunity to purchase tickets in advance will conclude March 23.

Proceeds from the St. Patrick’s Day themed dance party will benefit Relay For Life.

Event organizer Tamera Hinton, who is part of a Relay For Life team composed of several of her friends, said she and her teammates wanted to host a fundraiser that Chilton County youth could enjoy.

“I felt like we get caught up on trying to raise money for the event, and we really don’t think much about the kids — even though there’s a lot of kids that are involved in Relay For Life as well,” Hinton said. “We just thought it would be a good idea for the kids to have a good, fun, safe environment to come together, have a good time and help raise money for Relay.”

Children ages 5 years old and older, including teenagers, are invited to dance the night away to music provided by a live D.J., according to Hinton.

Children ages 9 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Hinton said her Relay For Life team formed in honor of her aunt, who died of double breast cancer, and her stepfather, who is a survivor of prostate cancer.

The team hopes to raise at least $1,000 with the dance.

“I’m just looking forward to the kids having a great time, mostly, and just raise our money for Relay in the process,” Hinton said, adding that she will enjoy seeing the children support a good cause.
