A Clanton woman reported missing on March 1 was discovered deceased in her vehicle on Interstate 65 S. in Butler County near Greenville, at approximately 9 p.m. the same night.
Sheila Kidd, 49, was last seen Feb. 28, according to a Facebook post on March 1 that urged readers to be on the lookout for Kidd and her vehicle.
“The Butler County Sheriff’s Department has indicated that no foul play is suspected in her death and are awaiting results of a toxicology report to determine a cause of death,” Clanton Police Chief Keith Maddox said.
The Butler County Coroner’s Office confirmed March 5 that test results are still underway, but expect to soon have an official cause of death determined.
Kidd has three sons, one daughter and 15 grandchildren, according to her husband Bruce Kidd.
“She is a loving and caring woman; she always puts others above herself,” he said. “She was always thinking of everyone else, trying to protect them, no matter what. She will always be loved.”
A memorial service honoring Kidd’s life was held March 4 at Agee Brothers Funeral Home in Clanton.
