James E. Pierce, 88, of Clanton died Friday, March 2.

He was born Monday, June 10, 1929 in Chilton County, son of the late Clyde L. Pierce and the late Josephine Goodson Pierce.

He was an agriculture teacher.

Surviving are his sons, Phillip Pierce, Timothy Pierce; grandsons, Braison Pierce and Sean Pierce; granddaughter, Miranda Pierce; brothers, Herbert Pierce and Buddy Pierce; sisters, Joyce Fitzgerald and Shirley Owens; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cherry Pierce; father, Clyde Pierce; mother, Josephine Pierce; brothers, Leon, John, Jesse and Wilbert Pierce; and sisters, Myrtle Pierce, Thelma Pierce, Maggie Sandlin, Jewell Scott, Mattie Ree Patrick.

Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, March 4 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services will be held Monday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Mims and Rev. David Bishop officiating.

Interment will follow in Mulberry Baptist Cemetery, Maplesville.
