Adierene (Phoebe) Pate
Adierene (Phoebe) Pate, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 12, while surrounded by her loving family.
Phoebe, as she was known to most, was a long time member of Mars Hill Baptist Church where she served the Lord thru many ministries.
Learning to play the piano, guitar, and mandolin, she ministered to others thru music while being a member of the Gospel Aires for many years. She was a homemaker, who loved her family and spent many years caring for her grandchildren who lovingly called her Nanny. Along with her love of music, she loved to read her Bible, cook and spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her only daughter, Rita (Greg) Smith; grandchildren, Christa (Jeremy) Hayes, Brad (Mary) Shields, and Amber (Billy) Carroll; and great grandchildren, Alyssa Hayes, Josh Hayes, Caiden Carroll and Hunter Carroll. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd (Pete) Pate; mother, Eula Armstrong Cofer; father, David Green Cofer; sisters, Anne Traywick, Hazel Atchison, and UL (Dee) Brantley; and brothers, James Allen (Bud) Cofer, James (Jim) Cofer, Billy Ray Sr.
Friends will be received Thursday, Dec. 14 from 5-7 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home. Service will be Friday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Doug West and Rev. William Earl Short officiating. Interment to follow in the Union Springs Cemetery.
