Returning home was not enough for the Chilton County varsity boys basketball team, as the Prattville Lions knocked of the Tigers 72-55.
Mondez Jones got things going for the Tigers, but was answered by a three from Jabari Smith.
However, three-pointer from Patrick Rogers later gave the Tigers a 7-5 lead, but it was once again short-lived after Jalen McCary answered with a basket for Prattville. Baskets from Jones and Kory Albert made it a four-point lead for Chilton County, but five straight points by the Lions swung the lead back in favor of Prattville.
A basket by the Lions with 28 seconds remaining in the period was answered with a basket by Joey Cleckler, which ended the period with the teams tied at 17.
The one-point Tiger deficit reamined through the early moments of the second period, when a three from McCary pushed Prattville out in front by four.
With the Lions leading by five, a basket from Jones cut that lead to three.
Keshawn Pickett and Smith made it a seven-point Prattville lead, but with 1:12 to play in the first half, a three pointer from Patrick Rogers cut the Lions’ lead to four, 34-30 at the half.
Rogers continued to work his magic in the early moments of the third quarter with a basket that made it a two-point game, while Jones added another that knotted the game at 36-all.
Dequan Johnson broke the tie to put Prattville ahead by two, while Dre
Hardy frained a buzzer-beating three that gave the Lions a 45-40 lead heading into the game’s final quarter.
The fourth quarter proved to be the Tigers undoing, as turnovers cost Chilton County heavily and aided in the Lions outscoring the Tigers 27-15 in the period.
With the Tigers trailing by only three, a basket from McCary jump started a 7-0 run for Prattville that made the score 54-45.
Rogers ended the run with a three-point basket for the Tigers, but with Chilton County unable to start a run of their own in the closing minutes, the Lions went on to upset the Tigers at home.
Jones led Chilton County with 21 points, nine rebounds, three steals and a block.
Johnson, Hardy and McCary all paced the Lions with 15 points each.
