Betty Ann Wesson

Betty Ann Wesson of Jemison passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Hatley Health Care surrounded by family. She was 78 years old.

She was born Jan. 12, 1939 in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Ann Ellison Porter. She was a beloved mother and Maw Maw and will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn (Larry) Smitherman; son, Travis Leon (April) Wesson; grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Smitherman, Heather (Monty) Gentry, Hunter Wesson and Colt Wesson; great-grandchildren, Kirk and Jacob Smitherman; sisters, Jewel Dean (Spence) Ray and Lorene Ellison; and brother, Glenn (Tish) Porter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Leonard, Tom, James, and O’Neal Porter; sisters, Leona Scott, Lucille Robinson, and Lillie Mae Robinson; and grandson, Heath Leon Wesson.

Friends were received from 12-1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 26 at Martin Funeral Home.

Services were held Sunday, Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Jack Jones officiating. Interment followed in Midway Memorial Gardens, Jemison.
