A Maplesville man who died in a single vehicle accident on Nov. 5 will be honored at a funeral service at Isabella High School on Nov. 11, beginning at 11 a.m.
Fidell Wilson, 21, was a passenger in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, which drifted off road at 3:20 a.m. on Alabama Highway 191, one mile north of Maplesville, according to State Trooper Steve Jarrett.
Jarrett said the driver had fallen asleep, and Wilson was not wearing a seat belt when the vehicle struck a tree.
“Nothing further is available (regarding accident details) as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate,” Jarrett said.
Wilson’s memory is dearly cherished by Chilton County residents, as clearly displayed on a “Remembering Fidell Wilson” Facebook page.
Since the day of the tragedy, family members and friends alike have posted favorite memories and photos of Wilson.
Maplesville Police Chief Todd Ingram urges drivers to take simple, precautionary measures while driving.
“If you’re drowsy, don’t drive. Pull over and get some sleep,” Ingram said. “And (wear a) safety belt — that’s a no-brainer, especially if you’re drowsy.”
