Thorsby has been on a roll since so far in 2017 and that continued with a 28-22 victory at home against region foe R.C. Hatch on Sept. 22.

The Rebels improved to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in Region 4-2A.

No matter who the challenger, Thorsby has found a way at the end of the game to add another notch in the win column.

That was the case yet again on Sept. 22, after the game was postponed four plays into the game due to lightning.

“We wanted this win and nothing was going to distract us from getting it done,” Thorsby senior lineman Chase Merrell said.

The rain stopped and play was continued, but the wet ball was something that both teams had to adjust to out of the locker room and the result was some traded fumbles.

However, Jacob Lockhart got the Rebels on the scoreboard with a touchdown run, as he won the race to the left corner of the end zone. Christian Fortner ran in the two-point conversion attempt and Thorsby led 8-0 at the half.

The scoring increased in the second half with Lockhart adding another score on the ground and Fortner and Tyler Jackson hooking up for a passing touchdown.

Grayson Bice cut back across the field and galloped down the left sideline for what turned out to be the game-winning score with 1:44 left in the fourth quarter.

According to Thorsby head coach Daryl Davis, Bice showed superb vision on the touchdown run, which allowed him to have the awareness to see the running lane open up and take advantage of it.

“We’re still making mistakes, but they’re will just overcomes it,” Davis said. “They just refuse to lose.”
