The Chilton/ Clanton Library Board has unanimously chosen Savannah Kitchens of Montevallo as library director.

Darlene Brock, who has served as bookkeeper for the library for several years, said Kitchens has 10 years of library experience and a Master of Library Science.

The library board received resumes and conducted interviews before making a decision. During her interview, Kitchens outlined ideas she would like to bring to the Clanton library.

“She’s a very enthusiastic and outgoing person,” Brock said.

Kitchens’ first day will be Sept. 5.

The library board began looking for a new director after former director Kelly Easterling resigned from the position in March. A Master of Library Science degree and five years of experience were the board’s requirements for applicants.
