One of the biggest musical events of the year in Chilton County is happening Aug. 26. En Fuego brings top Christian artists to Verbena each year. According to the event website, En Fuego is Spanish for “on fire.”
“The event is a one-day rally where students from every denomination and background come together for the purpose of worship and seeing Jesus Christ change lives,” the website states.
It may be surprising that such an event comes to such and unexpected place. What’s even bigger news is that the event, which will feature five big name bands, is free.
How, you may ask? As the result of a lot of hard work on the part of organizers to raise money and line up sponsors for the event. Several local and regional sponsors contribute to making the event a success.
While the event may be tailored with students in mind, it is open to all ages.
The gates open at noon at 2701 County Road 23 in Verbena.
While the schedule is subject to change because of unforeseen circumstances, the plan is for
Matt Littlejohn Band to kick-off the day with pre-festival music.
Tori Parris, Seventh Day Slumber and I am They are scheduled to perform in the 1 to 4 p.m. timeslot. Plumb will then take the stage with a worship set, preparing the audience to hear guest speaker Tony Nolan. At 6:30 p.m., Tenth Avenue North is scheduled to take the stage followed by For King & Country.
Just think: this many bands literally in your own yard, Chilton County, and its free.
This outdoor event will be held rain or shine. So, if it looks cloudy, bring an umbrella. Boots, rain or otherwise, would also be a good idea as the event takes place in a field.
A few things to keep in mind if you go. There are several food options on site offering everything from hotdogs to seafood baskets. Bringing food with you to the event is not allowed.
Organizers also ask that attendees not bring oversized backpacks, pets, drones, coolers and anything expensive that might get lost.
