What better time to celebrate?

It is that time of year again, when America celebrates yet another birthday.

The Fourth of July could not fall at a better time on the calendar, as it takes place in the middle of summer and just over a month since Memorial Day.

Memorial Day serves as a time to reflect of all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, while Independence Day is all about the freedom that those past and present fought in defense of.

In many ways the Fourth of July is the end result and a reminder of why so many men and women have put their lives on the line, and often times did so voluntarily.

Chilton County will join the rest of the nation this weekend and on July 4 in cooking out and spending time together enjoying various outdoor activities.

The Founding Fathers made a lot of bright decisions when coming up with the ideas that the United States would be based upon into the future.

Another thing that played out perfectly was the timeline of events that led to the Declaration of Independence being ratified on July 4, 1776.

Could you imagine how the celebration would have changed if that turned out to be February 4 instead?

The fact that the date falls in July practically promotes a picnic-type atmosphere.

It is the reason for several summer vacations, as kids are out of school and parents plan their vacation days for some family time.

Enjoy yourselves this holiday, while remaining safe, especially once the sun goes down and the fireworks come out.

I also encourage everyone not to forget the reason why we are able to celebrate and remember the men and women who are spread throughout the world to ensure that we have another celebration this time next year.
