Chilton County residents will have plenty of opportunities to celebrate patriotism and the United States’ Independence this July 4.

Clanton

The Clanton fireworks show will begin in Clanton City Park (510 Park Drive off of Lay Dam Road) at 9 p.m. on July 4. Clanton City Clerk Debbie Orange said she enjoys watching her grandchildren enjoy the fireworks at the annual event.

Maplesville

The Maplesville fireworks celebration will be held on July 4 at dark in Maplesville Town Park.

Vickie Smith of Blackbelt Sewer and Drain, who co-sponsors the event with the town of Maplesville, said the fireworks should start around 9 p.m.

“It actually gives people who may not be able to get out to a big fireworks show … a chance really to enjoy the sights and sounds for the Fourth of July,” Smith said. “It is just a way [as a company] to give back to the town.”

This year fun community events will lead up to the display.

The Jaguars 8U travel softball team will be selling refreshments and glow-in-the-dark items starting at 6:30 p.m. Smith said the team is raising money for their trip to their championship game in Gulf Shores. The team will also have a dunking booth set up with three throws available for $5.

At 7:30 p.m., local musician Jason Todd will perform.

“Come early for good parking,” Smith said.

Lake Mitchell

Fireworks will be displayed on July 3 at 9 p.m. in Cargile Creek. A Pontoon boat parade will be held on July 4 at 10 a.m. with a speed boat parade at 2 p.m.
