Summer typically means higher temperatures that result in the endless search to find a relief from the heat.

One of the obvious forms of cooling off is by diving into a swimming pool. However, there is certain maintenance and upkeep that goes into having a pool and that is where Parker’s Pool Company in Thorsby can help.

Sherry Campbell opened the business on March 1 with the goal of helping residents find the answers to their pool problems.

Campbell has worked in the pool business for the past 17 years and decided that the time was for her to embark on her own business venture.

There is a sense of pride that Campbell has found in running her own business.

“It is a lot less stressful then if you work for someone,” Campbell said.

During that time she has seen and dealt with all sorts of pool issues and believes that her experience will quickly win over customers.

The slogan for Parker’s Pool is “We can do it all, no matter how big or small.”

According to Campbell, there are several questions on the mind of customers as they enter the location at 21012C Highway 31 in Thorsby, but the most common question revolves around how to keep the water clear and which chemicals to use.

Items needed to service a pool are available at Parker’s Pool Company, from liners to pumps. The only service not provided is pool installation.

Having only been open a couple of months, the staff remains small and Campbell does much of the work herself.

“I love being outside,” Campbell said. “I couldn’t have an inside job. It’s not for me.”

Parker’s Pool Company is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. The business is closed Wednesday and Sunday.
