The nonprofit educational resource Kelsey’s Place will hold its third annual golf tournament at the Montevallo Golf Club on May 6.

The event is a fundraiser to help upgrade Kelsey’s Place’s GED course materials, fix its computers and make other needed changes around its facilities, according to employee Betty Tidwell.

“Sometimes, if we have clients who can’t get to an interview, we’ll give them a gas card to help out,” Tidwell said. “We hope a lot of people will come out and support us, because it’s going to a really good cause.”

The resources at Kelsey’s Place are provided at no cost to people seeking employment.

At the tournament, golfers will pair up for a two-person scramble and tee off at 8:30 a.m. The cost to play is $65 per person, and includes a lunch.

According to Tidwell, there will be options from Tin Top BBQ, Jack’s, Little Caesar’s and Captain D’s. Impact Catering from Jemison will provide dessert.

Tidwell said there are 10 teams signed up to play in the tournament so far.

Players can register on-site before 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the tournament. The Montevallo Golf Club is located at 1481 Highway 204 in Montevallo. For more information, call Dwight Dellinger at 665-8057.
