Raleigh’s Place is having its charity event, “The Kings Ball,” at Elizabeth Hall on April 29 from 7-10 p.m.

“Basically, it’s just a night of getting together and dancing and having a good time at a charity ball,” Raleigh’s Place volunteer Meredith Vincent said.

The event is mainly aimed at adults, and aims to raise funds for the faith-based foster care organization. DJ at Large from Montgomery will provide music for the dance floor. There will also be appetizers and drinks, according to Vincent.

“Let the Adventure Begin” is this year’s theme. There will be decorations representing regions from around the world.

Raleigh’s Place founders Sharon and Tim King will be at the event, as well as many of the organization’s board members. There will be information about what is happening at Raleigh’s Place, and guests are welcome to ask questions.

The idea for the charity ball came a few years ago, when a community member wanted to do an event that would bring more recognition to Raleigh’s Place, “since it’s such a wonderful charity that we have here locally that supports not only Chilton County, but the state of Alabama,” Vincent said.

The event was referred to as an adult prom in its previous three years. The event’s new name, “The Kings Ball,” is a reference to the organization’s founders as well as a Biblical reference, according to Vincent.

Vincent has participated every year of the event so far.

“[What’s special about it to me] is being able to get out and fellowship with other people and support Raleigh’s Place, a mission that is near and dear to my heart,” Vincent said.

Tickets are $20 and will be available at the door. For more information, visit facebook.com/thekingsball or call 205-299-0454.
