The Isabella Mustangs walked their way to a 19-1 win over the Autaugaville Eagles at home on April 6 in a game called early by the visitors.
With Isabella pitcher Jacob Day struck out the side in the top of the first inning and the game moved to the home half of the inning, where the Mustangs piled on the runs.
A leadoff double by Jacob Davis set up an RBI single by Tyler Durham and was followed by five consecutive walks being issued to the Mustangs.
A second consecutive single by Durham and four more walks, along with a two RBI single by Davis and an RBI single by Durham resulted in 16 Isabella runs in the half inning.
The Eagles managed to break the shutout in the top of the second on a bases loaded walk to make the score 16-1, but the Mustangs tacked on three more in the bottom half of the inning.
Jarrett Baker got the bottom of the second started by reaching on an Eagles’ error and was followed by an RBI double by Kelan Mims, RBI single by Ethan Wendall, a hit batsman, and a walk that would load the bases with no outs.
One final walk to Dalton Smitherman scored Wendall to make the score 19-1 and forced the Autaugaville coaching staff to decide enough was enough and call the game after an inning and a half of play.
Durham led the Mustangs at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance with three singles and two RBIs. Day threw two innings while allowing one earned run with four walks and five strikeouts.
