At approximately 3:26 p.m. on Feb. 1, Chilton County 911 received a call that a pedestrian had been struck by a train on 2nd Avenue in Clanton.

Clanton police officers responded, along with emergency medical services and the fire department. They discovered the body of a 62-year-old white male at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and CSX Corporation is the lead investigating agency. The CPD is withholding the name of the deceased until the family has been notified.

“We ask that people continue to pray for the family during this time,” Captain Neil Fetner of the CPD said. “We appreciate the assistance we received today from the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Clanton Fire Department.”
