Jemison High School has received a $5,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant for their 21^st Century Library Transformation project – creating a more modernized learning environment.

Lowe’s grant application was based on the goal of improving the learning community at Jemison High School.

“This funding will give me the money to purchase new tables and chairs for the library to make it fit a more 21^st century appeal,” JHS library media specialist Lori Farris said.

Farris started her project at the beginning of the school year when she received a $3,000 grant by purchasing e-books for students and teachers at JHS. She plans to continue to write grants and seek funding in order to transform the library into a 21^st century media center.

“Our school will greatly benefit from this grant. The library media center is the hub of learning and support at JHS, and with these necessary upgrades, we can be more compatible to our changing society. We wish to thank our friends at Lowe’s for generously supporting this important project,” Farris said.
