CLANTON — Chilton County High School’s Key Club celebrated a successful sock drive by spending time with residents at Hatley’s Healthcare and Rehabilitation while delivering what had been collected.
The drive received an array of colors of slip-resistant socks, so there were enough for all of the men and women to receive two pairs tied together with ribbon and a festive tag. That’s 300 pairs.
Key Club president Aaron Binion said “it means a whole lot to me” to see the club surpass its goal for the drive.
“I feel like the people that live here, they don’t get presents as often, and I believe that this means a lot to them,” Binion said.
The students receive donations from friends and family as well as Walmart and New Life Community Church’s nursing home ministry.
“Thank you everyone for donating,” Binion said.
The ministry joined Key Club students in handing out the gifts and wishing Hatley residents a Merry Christmas.
