Gallery: Chilton County Arts Festival

The Chilton County Arts Festival was Nov. 5 and 6 and brought nearly 40 artists to the Jefferson State Conference and Performing Arts Center for a weekend of inspiration and fun.

Elizabeth Byrd, a founder and member of the Arts Council, was selling her paintings at the festival.

A small bottle-tree forest was situated beside the outer wall of the hall.

This craftsman was selling his handmade wooden creations.

Music resounded through the festival for both days, with performances by many local artists.

The Usual Suspects Jazz Band performed next door in the performance hall to a steady stream of visitors.

Mary Hughes and Andrea Knight, art students of Suanne Hoyt, gave out tickets and helped direct guests of the festival.

The festival even had practical items like these handmade wooden rollers.

Craig and Melinda Doriety came from Montevallo to sell their unique creations.

Set up under the frame of a canopy tent, the Dorietys’ shop had lamps and ceramics made from wooden hands and vintage vacuum tubes.

Metal sculptures and jewelry were also available among the Dorietys’ wares.

Jim Jones, vice president of the Alabama Gourd Society, had a shop set up near the entrance to the main hall.

Jones carved this whale and narwhal from gourds. His shop had multiple award-winning gourds on display.

The festival also showcased the art of local children.
