JEMISON – Updates are coming to a few places in the city of Jemison that have Mayor Eddie Reed and the council excited.
The City Council has donated $3,500 to Jemison Intermediate/Middle School to help them update its gymnasium and add a storage facility.
“We’ve never had this much building going on in the city at once, so it’s fun to see all of the good that is going on,” Reed said. “I have a great council surrounding me that want to get things done for this city.”
The mayor went on to say how much the city is growing and that without all of the other professionals he works with and the help of the residents, he wouldn’t be able to do some of these things.
The city will also finally have clocks put up on the clock tower at city hall.
Since the new City Hall first opened its doors, the structure has been without clocks on the tower.
“We didn’t want to spend our money on the clocks because we thought there were more important things to focus on like the paving of roads and other things,” Reed said. “We are so grateful to be able to finally get this done for our city.”
A donation made it possible for them to be able to put this together, and Reed said by Christmas time the tower will have clocks and be decorated for the holiday season.
“Some of these things we are doing are small and some are big, but they are all things that have an impact on our city and we are just so proud and excited to share all of this with the people of Jemison,” Reed said.
