“We are trying to bring in all of the local people we can so we are going to have Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Tommy Glasscock and hopefully others come out and celebrate this event with us,” said Ivy Creek Health Director of Marketing Ashley Benton. “We will have a little bit of everybody from the city involved to help get all of the local residents out to the park.”

The Bama Jammers, Defy the Day, headliner Jessica Meuse from American Idol and many more will take to the stage to sing live music for everyone in attendance.

“We are extremely excited about the musical talent that is lined up; we have several local bands and of course an American Idol finalist, it should create for a lot of fun,” Benton said.

Not only will they have all of this great entertainment for the humans in attendance, but the furry little one in your life will have plenty of activities to do as well, including a dog wash and a parade of pets.

Admission to the event itself is free, but if you would like participate in the neon 5K it will cost and admission fee of $30 prior to the event and $35 the day of.

To register for the 5K you can visit www.eventbrite.com/e/bark-in-the-park-5k-tickets-27573088851.

“I really want to push the 5K,” Benton said. “That will really help us raise a lot of money for the humane society. I’m trying to get local law enforcement in on the run as well because that would be fantastic.”

Registration will include a T-shirt and a number bib, which you can pick up on Friday, Oct. 28 at Chilton Urgent Care between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Once you have registered, make sure to email your T-shirt size to probinson@ivycreekhealth.com.

There is also still time for vendors to reserve a 10’ X 10’ space for $50 and showcase their items.

While the event is free to attend both the humane society and Ivy Creek Healthcare will be taking donations at the gate.

“We want to help in any way that we can,” Benton said. “I went to the humane society and it’s heartbreaking, so I made sure to tell them we would help because they are in desperate need of the help.”

She also said this is the first time they have worked with a humane society and it has been such a touching charity for her.

Dogs and cats from the humane society will be available on site for adoption.
