Carolyn Brown

Carolyn Brown, 72, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, departed this world Monday, Oct. 10.

A native of Maplesville, she spent 25 years with AT&T and joined the Alabama National Guard, then she and her husband Tommy built Sundown East and Papa T’s into a Montgomery institution starting in 1981. Carolyn was a big Alabama fan and “the hardest working woman around.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Brown; parents, Jimmie and Lorene Harrison; and sister, Eunice Faye Spiers.

She is survived by her son, Mike, and daughter-in-law, Lori; daughter, Angi; grandchildren, Hannah, Samantha, Grace Ann, and Evan; great-grandson, Colt; brothers, Jimmie and Jerry; sister, Charlotte; and hundreds of friends, APA pool league members, guardsmen, and fans of Sundown East.

A visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday, Oct. 16 from noon – 2 p.m. with a service to follow in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
