Virginia Elizabeth (Jenny) Sharp Mullins
Virginia Elizabeth (Jenny) Sharp Mullins made the trip to her heavenly home Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the age of 88.
She was born to John Samuel Sharp and Sarah Belle Eberhardt Sharp at the Mitchell Dam community in Chilton County on May 29, 1928. Her early life was spent in the Mitchell Dam community until her family moved to Verbena, where she completed high school.
She worked as a dime store clerk in Clanton, where she met and married a young war veteran, Erskine Eugene (Bill) Mullins. Together, they headed to Birmingham to seek their fortune. In her early life, Jenny worked at home raising two children. Later, she had a long career in the Automobile Title Division of the Alabama Department of Revenue. She was a long time member of Millbrook Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Samuel Sharp and Sarah Belle Eberhardt Sharp; sisters, Mavis Watkins, Sue (Lee) Spradlin, Ollie (Bill) Tatum, Eta (Wilson) Gilmore, Bernice (Dutch) Baker, Margaret (Bob) Bonham, and infant sister Olline Sharp; brothers, Milton (Ruth) Sharp, Rollie (Louise) Sharp, and George B. (Ann) Sharp; and brother-in-law, Nick Blackerby.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Erskine Eugene (Bill) Mullins; a daughter, Sarah Jo (Mike) Mikell; a son, Richard Eugene (Sharon) Mullins; granddaughters, Rebecca Anne Mullins (Wayne) Crow, Joy Elizabeth Mikell (Cole) Portis, and Kimberly Delaine Mikell (Patrick) Bond; grandson, Richard Scott (Rebecca) Mullins; sister, Betty (Nick) Blackerby; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at Brookside Funeral Home, 3360 Brookside Drive, Millbrook. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11 a.m.
