Elizabeth “Betty” Jenkins Johnson

Elizabeth “Betty” Jenkins Johnson, 89, of Clanton died Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.

She was born Saturday, Oct. 9, 1926 in Tuskegee, daughter of the late H.C. Jenkins and the late Naomi Darling Jenkins.

She was a social worker.

Surviving are her son, J. Sam Johnson, Jr. (Patti) of Montgomery; daughter, Margaret Vann of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandsons, Joe Johnson (Jan) of Longmont, Colo., Stewart Vann (Kerin) of Haddon Heights, N.J., and Robert Vann (Carter) of Norwalk, Conn.; granddaughter, Courtney Johnson (Burt Ritchie) of Wilmington, N.C.; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Johnson, and daughter, Rebecca Roberts.

Friends will be received from 9:30-10:45 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8 at Martin Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at Clanton City Cemetery with Rev. Matt DeBord officiating.

No flowers, please. Donations can be made to Judson College.
