Ida Mae Stone Stewart
Ida Mae Stone Stewart, age 97, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1 at her home in Maplesville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. at Martin Chapel, Clanton. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Services will be handled by Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Art Harley officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sprott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James & Galvester Stone; husband, Charlie Stewart; infant son, Gerald Stewart; sisters, Bertha Jones, Vera Jones and Elsie Stone; and brothers, Marvin, Arthur, Doyle, Wilbur, Leon, Otis & Edward Stone.
Surviving are her sons, Hugh (Deanna) Stewart and Leonard (Mattie Ruth) Stewart, both of Tuscaloosa, James (Nina) Stewart of Maplesville, and Charles (Gerri) Stewart of Haymarket, Va.; daughter, Betty Morgan of Canton, Ga.; sisters, Margaret Snyder of Marion, Nadine Stone of Selma; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.
She belonged to and was active in Maplesville Baptist Church. In earlier years, she owned and operated a beauty shop in Maplesville and accumulated many friends. In her later years she enjoyed traveling, eating out and visiting her children and many grandchildren. She will be missed by many.
Her pallbearers will be grandsons.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Southern Care Hospice.
