The North Central Alabama Girl Scouts are hosting a teddy-bear tea party at Kravings Coffee Bistro in Clanton on July 29 at 7 p.m.
The tea party is being put on by Girl Scout service unit 282 as a recruiting event for other girls interested in joining girl scouts.
“Our goal is to increase the public awareness,” said service unit manager Selah McBride. “We’ve had a lot of people call and ask about Girl Scouts in Chilton County and several have come up to us saying they didn’t know that Girl Scouts was even in Chilton County.”
The tea party will be open to any girl in the Chilton County area that is entering kindergarten through third grade and will offer parents and kids the opportunity to learn a little bit about what benefits Girl Scouts can offer throughout the children’s life.
Kravings will have their full menu of food and drinks available throughout the entire event and are also donating cupcakes to each of the girls in attendance to enjoy with their tea.
The event is free and girls interested in attending should bring their favorite teddy bear and a tea hat.
“We’ll talk about what Girl Scouts is all about and help establish troops in that age group for Chilton County,” McBride said.
Girls will be making crafts, eating delicious cupcakes and learning all about what Girl Scouts do.
McBride said that this event will help grow Girl Scouts in central Alabama, especially in Chilton County, and that it’s a great opportunity for them to get involved at an early age.
If you’re interested in joining the event you can RSVP by calling 205-706-9198 or 205-453-9527, or by confirming your status on the events Facebook page, Teddy Bear Tea Party.
