The May Spotlight of the Month for LeCroy Career Technical Center is Tracey Minor.
Minor has worked in Chilton County for 20 years, and 19 of those years have been spent at LeCroy Career Technical Center as the cosmetology Instructor.
She attended LCTC in 1984 under the instruction of Willie Lenoir.
In 1986, she completed her cosmetology hours and began working for Avoline LeCroy. In 1987, Minor decided to return to LCTC under Lenoir and started training to become a cosmetology instructor.
During that time, she was also hired to work at Head Start Hair Care Salon. Minor also served as Lenoir’s substitute instructor.
After completing her instructor’s training, she attended Athens State in North Alabama and became the cosmetology instructor at LCTC in 1997.
Minor said cosmetology has always been her passion. She loves doing hair and working with people.
Minor said she never thought about becoming an instructor until she was inspired by Willie Lenoir, her instructor and mentor.
For Minor, the last 19 years have been an amazing journey. She has enjoyed working with the students and seeing all the talent they have.
“Career technical education is awesome,” Minor said. “If it had not been for career technical education and my mentor, some amazing co-workers and other instructors, I would not have been able to make my dream come true.”
Minor takes tremendous pride in her students and truly enjoys watching their journey to achieve their goals.
