A Clanton funeral home company has expanded its business footprint in the area.

With the acquisition of a Calera funeral home facility, a large Calera cemetery and another large cemetery in Childersburg, Ellison Memorial has grown dramatically.

J. Aaron Ellison, owner of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home LLC, said he is excited about seeing an already successful business expand its quality, affordable and compassionate service into these new communities.

“This is something we’ve wanted to do for some time now,” Ellison said in a press release. “We’ve proudly served the communities of Central Alabama from our Clanton location for more than five years. With this expansion, we grow our ability to provide even more area residents with dependable, affordable funeral services and burial options. For our organization it really is a dream come true.”

Ellison recently acquired Shelby Memory Gardens and the small funeral home on that property located in Calera on Alabama Highway 25 between U.S. Highway 31 and Montevallo. The company also acquired Green Hill Memorial Gardens at 7447 Old Sylacauga Highway in Childersburg.

“It worked out that these locations were available and were within our reach,” Ellison said.

Both cemeteries are available immediately for graveside services and burials. Shelby Memory Gardens currently has 5 developed acres with 15 more ready for development. There are currently business offices at each location as well.

“We need a little time to get the funeral home chapel facility in Calera where we want it,” Ellison said. “We can host visitations and graveside services there right now. We can also coordinate church services from the Calera location. By summer, we believe we will have our chapel facility there up to our standards.”

Ellison said that after touring both cemetery facilities, he is pleased with the accommodations they offer.

“Our cemeteries are beautiful places to lay a loved one to rest,” he said. “The facilities are well-maintained and conveniently located as well.”
