A 72-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday in Jemison.
Jemison Police Chief Shane Fulmer said the woman, who was not identified, was crossing Church Street, or Highway 191, in Jemison at about 6 p.m. with two relatives when she and her daughter were struck.
The two victims were struck by an SUV turning west onto Highway 191 from Main Street.
The daughter’s injuries were not considered life-threatening, but the 72-year-old was transported to a hospital via emergency helicopter that landed at the Jemison park-and-ride.
The woman was pronounced dead Wednesday morning, Fulmer said.
The victims and driver of the vehicle were all Jemison residents, Fulmer said.
Fulmer said the incident is under investigation, as police are interviewing witnesses.
“It takes a few days to get everything together, Fulmer said. “It’s a terrible situation for the family.”
