Clanton Middle School seventh graders took a field trip March 23 to tour the Alabama Capitol building, state house and state archives in Montgomery. Seventh grade students statewide study lawmaking procedures in the civics portion of their social studies class. CMS students had the opportunity to meet their state legislators and watch lawmaking in action as they sat in the Senate gallery and listened to bills being debated—even being recognized at one point from the Senate floor. This was the first grade-level field trip Clanton Middle School has taken, and the group was highly commended by tour guides and officials in all three buildings for their mature, respectful behavior.
