Jacob Alan Lee Jones, 5, of Thorsby, passed away on March 24 at Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham after a long and courageous battle with Tay-Sachs disease.

Jacob was born on Aug. 29, 2010, in Alabaster, the son of Justin Alan Jones and Erica Elizabeth Faye Lowery Jones.

Jacob is survived by daddy and momma, Justin and Erica Jones of Thorsby; Paw Paw and Granny, Eric and Bette Lowery of Jemison; Paw Paw and MiMi, Greg and Kim McDaniel of Dothan; Paw Paw and grandmother, Jeff and Melinda Jones of Purvis, Miss.; Paw Paw and NaNa, Frank and Mary Arthur of Clanton; Paw Paw and MooMoo, Billy and Gayla Jones of Shelby; Paw Paw, Wilbur Thomas of Prattville; grandma, Jewel Wyatt of Clanton and uncles, Derick Wayne Lowery of Jemison and Kerri Jones of Dothan.

Visitation was held March 28 after 5 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist No. 1 Church in Thorsby.

Funeral services will be held March 29 at 2 p.m. from Mt. Carmel Baptist No. 1 Church with the Rev. Wilbur Thomas, the Rev. Travis Burnett and the Rev. Billy Boatwright officiating.

Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Community Cemetery in Jemison.

Jacob loved bright and vibrant colors; in accordance with Jacob’s likes, the family requests that everyone dress casual and in bright colors for the services.
