The city of Clanton will be getting some new asphalt and grass.
The City Council, at a regular meeting Monday, approved bids for paving the Park Plaza parking lot and purchase of sod for an under-construction softball complex.
A bid of $90 a ton for paving the parking lot submitted by Wiregrass Construction was the lowest received and approved by the Council.
Clanton Mayor Billy Joe Driver estimated that 1,400 tons of asphalt would be needed to pave the lot, bringing the price tag to about $13,000.
Four other bids were received, with the next lowest being $99 per ton, and the highest at $139 per ton.
A low bid of $21,060 for sod submitted by Craft Farms was approved for the softball complex.
Three other bids were higher but not significantly.
