Officer involved shooting on County Road 701 under investigation (updated)

Authorities are still investigating an officer involved shooting in Chilton County on Jan. 23.
More details are expected to emerge about the situation during a press conference scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Chilton County Courthouse, according to Chief Assistant District Attorney C.J. Robinson.
The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and agents from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency were asked to investigate an officer involved shooting on Jan. 23.
The requests were made by Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon to investigate the incident, which occurred at 1855 County Road 701, according to a release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Clanton Police Department are the agencies involved.
Robinson confirmed on Tuesday that the incident occurred some time in the early afternoon on Jan. 23.
Currently, Robinson said the district attorney’s office is collecting as much evidence as they can, including any recordings such as audio and video and reviewing them before the press conference on Wednesday.
Robinson said the name of the individual killed in the incident is not being released at this time.
Details about what happened leading up to the shooting have not been released.
Shearon declined to comment about the incident and directed all questions to the district attorney’s office.
