Jemison Eye Care is now part of the Schaeffer Eye Center family.

Schaeffer Eye Center is a family-owned and operated business with more than 30 years of experience serving patients in central Alabama.

They have 18 locations in and around the Birmingham area and place an emphasis on science, style and service, known as the “Schaeffer Eye Center Experience.”

Meagan Freeman, director of Marketing for Schaeffer Eye Center, described the trifold concept of the Schaeffer experience.

“We are medically oriented, providing the latest and most advanced technology,” Freeman said. “We provide full, comprehensive eye exams for the entire family. We also understand that style is important, and we have built really great relationships with our vendors. We have relationships with exclusive brands and carry a great selection of glasses and contacts.

“Our patients are important to us, and we strive to have 100 percent patient satisfaction. We also want to be involved in the local communities we serve and sponsor different events throughout the year. We will be participating in the upcoming Chilton County Senior Connection’s Chili Cook Off and Health Fair on Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.”

Schaeffer Eye Center accepts most insurance plans and provides a full range of service for their patients including: comprehensive eye exams, a large selection of glasses and contacts, prescription sunglasses, basic single vision lenses, custom progressive lenses and even disease management.

“If a patient has diabetes, we monitor their progress every six to 12 months depending on their specific needs,” Freeman said. “We check for glaucoma and offer care for both pre and post-operative cataract surgery.”

Although the name has changed, patients will continue to receive caring and friendly service from Dr. Lisa Green and her staff at Schaeffer Eye Center.

“We are large, but we are very mom and pop style,” Freeman said. “We call it the eye center family because not only do we consider our staff to be family, but we think of our patients as family.”

Schaeffer Eye Center is located at 24810 Highway 31 in Jemison. The business is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Patients can call 205-688-1010 for an appointment or request an appointment online at www.SchaefferEyeCenter.com.
